2009 Northwest Down Syndrome Association (NWDSA) 11th Annual Portland & SW Washington Buddy Walk

Saturday, September 26, 2009

The 2009 Northwest Down Syndrome Association (NWDSA) Portland & SW Washington Buddy Walk will take place on Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 to 1:00. October is National Down syndrome awareness month and we are looking forward to participating in it by sharing the day with you. Everyone in the community is invited to celebrate and join in on a day filled with music, activities, food, awareness, and advocacy. Your participation helps support the work of the NWDSA, as it fulfills its mission: Create and nurture a loving and inclusive community celebrating every person with Down syndrome. This will be a day you won't forget!

Your donation will help make some of the following NWDSA work possible: New Parent Guide, Open Arms Parent-Infant Play Group, Family Social Events, Reciprocal Learning Community Educational Sessions, Parent Directed Grants, NWDSA "Stepping Up" Quarterly Newsletter, the "All Born In" Annual Inclusion Conference, as well as our newest presentation, the "All Born In" Cross Disability Photo Gallery. Contributions will also assist with our ongoing local awareness presentations and advocacy work. Each year we contribute a portion of the proceeds to the NDSS to support their national eduction, research, and advocacy as well.

Our board of directors, all parents of children with Down syndrome, is dedicated to seeing the NWDSA expand its presence in the community. We strive to be a beacon to families looking to join with others in the celebration of our children and are committed to our ongoing work of ensuring that people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to be included in every aspect of a full and complete life. Thank you for being part of this event!
