About Our Organization

The Down Syndrome Guild (DSG) of Southeast Michigan is a group of parents who see the potential in their children to achieve a full life. We know that working together will be the best way to achieve that goal.

We strive to provide an atmosphere where we can learn from each other and from professionals who are knowledgeable about people with Down Syndrome.

We currently offer a variety of services and programs in Southeast Michigan, with more being planned to meet the variety of needs of our families.

We formed in 1989 under the name Parents of Children with Down Syndrome.

In 2008, we announced our new name, Down Syndrome Guild of Southeast Michigan, because we felt this name was more inclusive to serve people of all ages who have Down syndrome, as well as reflect our passion for outreach encompassing the greater Southeast Michigan region.

This year we are celebrating our 20th year of serving individuals who have Down syndrome and their families!

The DSG of Southeast Michigan is proud to be affiliated with both the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) and the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC).

We also liaise with other support groups across the country that are like minded and serve families or have family members with different abilities. We hope to share best practices and important, timely information with our families by plugging into these national groups. Please see our bi-monthly newsletter and calendar of events at www.dsgsemi.org.
